Since 2016, Tyler and his mom have been traveling the country to various police agencies and have now been to every state except Mississippi and Hawaii.  Today, he met with and thanked Deputies and Officers at the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies and Officers from the Waynesboro Police Department, Sardis Police Department, Midville Police Department, Millen Police Department, Hephzibah Police Department, Augusta Tech Police Department, Wadley Police Department, Department of Natural Recourses Law Enforcement Division, District Attorney’s Office, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Community Supervision, Burke County EMA, Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office, Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Richmond County Marshall’s Office all had the pleasure of meeting with Tyler.

Their non-profit organization, I DONUT Need A Reason To Thank A Cop, helps to facilitate his mission of thanks and goodwill towards all.  “Most all Police Officers are good and caring people and we need to thank them for their service” said Tyler.

During the event, Tyler was sworn in as an Honorary Burke County Deputy and issued and ID Card and badge by Sheriff Alfonzo Williams.  Mayor Greg Carswell of Waynesboro issued a proclamation declaring Thursday, July 11, 2019 “Donut Boy Day” in the Bird Dog Capital.  Many agencies brought patches and challenge coins for Tyler and thanked him for caring and helping to make the world a better place.  Tyler aspires to be a K-9 handler in the future and was able to get a head start today by assisting the K-9 handlers.  The Hephzibah Police Department and Burke County Sheriff’s Office K-9 handlers conducted demonstrations where the K-9’s alerted to and found drugs as well as assisted in stopping and detaining a subject.
